Amazon Prime Day is one of the most exciting days for sellers and buyers. Consumers are keen to grab the best deal possible, while for sellers this is an incredible opportunity to sell their inventory, promote their brand, make extra profit, and test their marketing and branding efforts.

However, without the proper preparation, Prime Day can easily turn into a disaster. How can you avoid this? How to prepare for Prime Day 2021?

Make sure to start all your preparation at least 3 months before the official date, to give you plenty of time for every eventuality. We have prepared a  list of Amazon Prime day tips and tricks designed to help you crush the competition and enjoy your best Prime Day yet.

What is Prime Day?

Prime Day is an annual event of deals, discounts, and sales made for Amazon Prime members.

Table of сontents:

Check Inventory

Before doing anything else, check your inventory for Prime Day and plan your sales accordingly. Not enough inventory? Order a new shipment, but bear in mind that Amazon has very strict dates for when shipments can arrive – if you miss that deadline it will be very difficult to organize the rest of your sales. Also, keep in mind the recent Amazon restocks limits. If needed, hire a 3PL service, or reach out to Amazon to review your limitations.

Rethink Marketing

Even if you’ve never invested in marketing in the past, now is the time to start. Prime Day is one of the best times to promote your products. Consumers are hoping for large discounts, and many of them already have your products on their wishlists – target the customers who already have a desire to purchase from you.

Promote your future sales on your social media, your website, and your email list. Give customers a heads up you are planning to give them a good deal and send a reminder a couple of days before Prime Day. Be careful not to be too pushy and have your marketing revolve only around the Prime Day deal.

A great, simple way to increase the value of your product is to collaborate with other brands. Just like a burger and a coke make the perfect combination, you just need to ensure your product is compatible with the other brand. Reach out to other sellers and ask them if they would be interested in bundling, and mutually promoting the deal. This will enable you to tap into a new audience, and offer your existing customers more diversity.

A crucial part of your marketing strategy should be ads and targeting customers. To advertise successfully, you need to know your keywords and bid on those terms. Don’t bid on big keywords like ‘Prime Day’ or ‘Amazon Sales’ because you won’t see the results you want. There’s also the option of hiring a professional who will set the campaigns and show you how to successfully run them.

Prepare Discounts

Prime Day is all about deals – you need to prepare for one of the largest sales ever. Avoid increasing your prices before Prime Day to show bigger discounts on the day. Consumers are very smart these days and can see the difference – you don’t want to create a bad reputation within the community.

If you are unable to offer even a small discount, then it’s worth considering how to present your product in the best light, and put it in the mind of your customers.

Able to offer a discount? Here are the three pillars you should focus on:

– Spotlight & Lightning Deals – flash deals that are only shown for a limited period. You can set aside a small portion of your inventory to sell.

– Coupon – the best way to offer a saving to your customer, you can offer between 10-50% off, which will show as a small orange tag under the price.

– Standard Prime Deals & Offers – the usual discounts which are available for the whole duration of Prime Day.

Reach Out to Affiliate Websites

This step will help you utilize affiliate websites that already feature your product.

A Google search will reveal all the websites and their contact information. Send them a quick message informing them about the sale options, and request that they mention the discount on their page or newsletter. You can even offer to sponsor a guest post or part of a blog post that mentions your product.

Most of the websites are likely to agree, because the more products they sell, the bigger the commission they receive from Amazon – a mutual win-win situation.

Optimize Listings

The most important thing you should do to prepare for Prime Day is optimizing your listings.

Start by checking your images – are they good quality, up to standard, and showing the product in real-life situations?

Make sure to check the descriptions and highlights, ensuring all specifications, sizes, and options are properly listed.

The last thing you should do is make sure your listing contains all related keywords and ranks for them as well.

Now that you know how to prepare your brand for Prime Day 2021 go and make the best deal out of it!
